How Much Does a Website Cost in Morocco? What Really Drives the Quote

How Much Does a Website Cost in Morocco? What Really Drives the Quote
Website Design

The price of a website in Morocco depends on seven factors: the type of site, the design (template or custom), the content, the number of languages, the features, the level of SEO included and maintenance. That is why two quotes for “a showcase website” can be far apart: they do not describe the same work. This guide helps you understand what you are paying for, anticipate the costs that come back every year, and compare two quotes without getting it wrong.

Why do prices vary so much?

A website is not a standard product. The same word hides very different things: a template bought and adapted in a few days, or a site where every page was thought through, written, designed and developed for your business. Both are called “a showcase website”. The first costs little to produce, the second takes weeks of work.

So the useful question is not “how much does a website cost?” but “what is included in this price?”.

The 7 factors that set the price of a website

1. The type of site

TypeWhat it is forComplexity
Landing pageA single page for one offer or ad campaignLow
Showcase sitePresenting the business and its services, generating enquiriesMedium
Site with a blogShowcase plus regular articles for SEOMedium to high
E-commerce siteCatalogue, cart, online payment, order managementHigh
Custom platformBooking, client area, business toolsHigh to very high

2. The design: template or custom

A template is a ready-made design shared by many websites. It is quick and cheap, but your site will look like others. A custom design starts from your brand, your customers and your goals: it stands out, but takes real design work.

3. The content: copy and photos

Who writes the copy? Who supplies the photos? A quote that assumes you provide all the content is not comparable to one that includes copywriting and a photo shoot. Content is also what makes a site convert and rank on Google.

4. The number of languages

In Morocco, a site in French, Arabic and sometimes English is common. Careful: Arabic is not just a translation. It is written right to left, which requires a mirrored layout, suitable Arabic typography and dedicated testing. Each language also adds pages to write and optimise.

5. The features

Contact form, WhatsApp button, appointment booking, client area, CRM integration, online payment. To take card payments in Morocco, the site has to be connected to a payment gateway, such as the CMI’s, which involves steps with your bank and specific development. Every feature adds development and testing.

6. The SEO included

This is one of the most common gaps between two quotes. A site can be delivered with no SEO groundwork at all, or with solid foundations: a title and description per page, a clean heading structure, fast pages, a sitemap, structured data, and a site that reads perfectly on mobile. These basics cost little to build in during creation, and much more to fix afterwards.

7. Maintenance and changes

A website lives: security updates, backups, fixes, new pages. Some quotes include this for a period, others bill it separately, others do not mention it.

The recurring costs to plan for every year

The build is not the only expense. Always ask what will come back each year:

ItemWhat it isWhat to check
Domain nameYour address (.ma, .com…), renewed every yearThat it is registered in your name
HostingThe server that runs the sitePerformance, backups, SSL certificate included
LicencesAny paid themes, plugins or toolsWho pays for renewal
MaintenanceUpdates, security, small changesWhat is included, and response time

How do you compare two quotes?

Put the quotes side by side and check every line:

Does the quote specify…Why it matters
The number and list of pagesAvoids surprises mid-project
Template or custom designThis is the main price gap
Who writes the copy and supplies the photosContent is a large share of the work
The languages included, Arabic in particularArabic needs a specific layout
The features, one by oneWhatsApp, form, booking, payment…
The SEO basics includedTitles, descriptions, speed, sitemap, mobile
The yearly costsDomain, hosting, licences, maintenance
The schedule and number of revisionsA project without stages drifts
Ownership of the site and accessSee the next section

Who owns your website? The question to ask before signing

This is the most often overlooked point, and the most expensive one in a dispute:

  • The domain name must be registered in your name, not the provider’s.
  • You must receive full access: site administration, hosting, and the code if the site is custom-developed.
  • The content (copy, photos, logo) produced for you must belong to you.

A site whose domain belongs to the provider makes you dependent on them, even after the relationship ends.

Warning signs in a quote

  • A very low price with no detail of pages or features.
  • No mention of SEO, speed or mobile display.
  • A domain registered in the provider’s name.
  • No schedule, no limit on revisions.
  • A template presented as “custom”: ask to see other sites they have built.

One last legal point: in Morocco, Law 09-08 governs the collection of personal data, under the supervision of the CNDP. A site that collects names, phone numbers or emails through a form must tell visitors how that data is used. A serious provider raises this with you.

Frequently asked questions

There is no single rate, because "showcase website" covers very different things: a template adapted in a few days has nothing in common with a site that is custom-designed, written, multilingual and optimised for Google. The right move is to ask for a detailed quote listing the pages, languages, features, SEO included and yearly costs.

Because the design, structure and often the code are created for your business instead of being reused from a template shared by thousands of sites. The result stands out more, often loads faster and fits your needs, but it takes more design and development time.

A .ma clearly signals a Moroccan business and suits a customer base in Morocco. A .com suits an internationally oriented business better. What matters is that the domain is registered in your name and that you control its yearly renewal.

It depends mostly on how quickly content gets approved. A simple showcase site is usually delivered within a few weeks; an e-commerce site, a multilingual site or a fully custom site takes longer. A serious quote gives a schedule broken into stages.

Not always, and it is one of the most common gaps between two quotes. Check that the quote covers at least the technical basics: a title and description for every page, heading structure, loading speed, a sitemap and a mobile-friendly site. Long-term SEO, with content and links, is separate work.
